Week 4: Cross Country Runners of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for September 19-25, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runners-of-the Week
Women – Kylahn Freiberg, Concordia University
Kylahn Freiberg of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Freiberg, a senior from Nampa, Idaho, helped Concordia to a team championship at the Dean White Invitational while placing as the individual runner up. She clocked in at 19:43.94 in the 5k and finished behind only a competitor from York College. Freiberg was the GPAC runner up in 2019.
Men – Eric Steiger, Dordt University
Eric Steiger of Dordt University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Steiger, a senior from Lynden, Washington, posted a top ten finish at the Roy Griak Invite held last weekend in St. Paul, Minnesota. Competing in his first race of the season, Steiger finished sixth in a loaded field comprised of top runners from NCAA Division II, III, NAIA, and NJCAA. He crossed the finish line with a time of 25:38 and led the 4th-ranked Defenders to its highest ever finish (5th) as a team. Steiger was the top NAIA runner in the field and his finish was the highest ever by a Dordt individual runner at the Griak.
