Week 1: Cross Country Runners of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for August 29-Sept. 4, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runners-of-the Week

Women – Emily Haverdink, Northwestern College

Emily Haverdink of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Haverdink, a freshman from Orange City, Iowa, was the top female NAIA finisher in the 28-team field at the Augustana Twilight Invite. She set a personal best in the 5K by over 25 seconds (18:49.96) in her first collegiate race.

Men – Camden Sesna, Concordia University

Camden Sesna of Concordia University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Sesna, a senior from Kearney, Nebraska, finished the four-mile Augustana Twilight race as the highest placing GPAC/NAIA competitor in a field of 323 overall runners. Sesna placed 36th while finishing in 20:19.33. As a team, Concordia placed 12th out of 32 squads and defeated all other GPAC/NAIA opponents at the meet. Sesna is a returning all-conference and national qualifying runner.
