Week 10: GPAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played October 21-27, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2024-2025 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week

Attacker – Majesta Valasek, Hastings College (Outside)

Majesta Valasek of Hastings College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Valasek, a senior, from Broken Bow, Nebraska, accounted for 35 kills in six sets, good for 5.83 kills per set. In a win over Doane, she had 20 kills, including seven kills in the opening set, then had five kills in the first eight points of the second set to set the tone in their three-set win. Valasek also had 6 digs, 2 blocks and 1 assist in their two games.

Setter- Savannah Shelburne, Concordia University

Savannah Shelburne of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Shelburne, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, piled up a combined 45 assists as part of a 6-2 system in wins over Mount Marty and Hastings. In those two wins, the Bulldogs hit a collective .255 with an average of 14.14 kills per set. Shelburne currently ranks fifth in the GPAC for assists per set. Concordia has won eight-straight matches and has moved to 20-2 overall.

Defender – Rebecca Gebhardt, Concordia University (Defensive Specialist)

Concordia University defensive specialist Rebecca Gebhardt is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Gebhardt, a senior, from Norfolk, Nebraska, tallied a combined 42 digs (6.0 per set) as No. 3 Concordia defeated Mount Marty and Hastings. Gebhardt also went 28-for-30 in serve receive for the week. She recently moved past 1,500 career digs and climbed to No. 5 on the program's all-time digs list. The Bulldogs are 20-2 overall and own an active eight-match winning streak.
