Week 6: GPAC Softball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played March 9-15, 2026. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2025-2026 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors

Player – Ashlen Johnson, Dakota Wesleyan University (Utility)

Ashlen Johnson of Dakota Wesleyan University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports softball player-of-the-week.  Johnson, a sophomore from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, went 10-of-19 at the plate in the final stretch of the Tigers time in Arizona. She tallied five RBIs, nine runs, four doubles, a triple, home run, and two swiped bags between six contests, helping the tigers to a record of 5-1 on the week.

Pitcher – Mackenzie Groninga, Midland University

Mackenzie Groninga of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week.  Groninga, a sophomore from Blair, Nebraska, picked up three wins last week at the Tucson Invitational Games. She tallied 29 strikeouts over 21.2 innings with an ERA of 1.62. She missed out on a fourth win after not going the required minimum innings as Midland built a big lead early against Viterbo.
