Week 5: GPAC Softball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played March 2-8, 2026. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2025-2026 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors

Player – Amber Dougherty, Morningside University (Catcher/Outfielder)

Amber Dougherty of Morningside University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports softball player-of-the-week.  Dougherty, a sophomore from Carlisle, Iowa, hit .465 over eight games last week for the Mustangs. She had 12 hits and reached base 15 times, scoring six times. In a win over Central Methodists went 2-for-3 and reached on a walk, scoring all three times she went to the plate. She also threw out two runners stealing.

Pitcher – Sydney Atkins, Midland University

Sydney Atkins of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week.  Atkins, a freshman from Gretna, Nebraska, picked up her first win as a Warrior this past week. She threw a complete-game, five-inning shutout against Sterling. In the circle, she had three strikeouts while scattering five hits and one walk.
