Day Two Update - 2025 GPAC Softball Tournament

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The 2025 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Softball Tournaments continued on Thursday, May 1, in Orange City, Iowa, and Fremont, Nebraska.

The Northwestern pod was completed in Orange City, Iowa, with the host and top seed Red Raiders coming back through the elimination bracket to win the bracket.  Northwestern will advance, and host, the best-of-three GPAC Tournament Championship Series.  Details of the GPAC Championship Series will be announced at a later date by the league office.  Northwestern opened the day with an elimination game win over Dakota Wesleyan and followed that with two Championship game wins over Doane to win the pod.

The Midland pod in Fremont, Nebraska, completed the first four games after weather forced games two through four into Thursday.  Play will continue Friday starting with game number five.  Tentatively game five will start at Noon, but the times for Friday will be reviewed in the morning pending a weather system moving through the Fremont area. On Thursday, Morningside went 2-0 and advanced to game six of the pod.  Dordt went 1-1, Midland went 0-1, and Hastings was eliminated from the bracket. 

With Northwestern winning their pod, the winner of the Midland pod will secure the second automatic from the GPAC into the NAIA National Softball Championship Opening Round.
