Week 1: GPAC Softball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played February 3-9, 2025. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2024-2025 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors

Pitcher – Paeton Coler, Midland University

Paeton Coler of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week.  Coler, a senior from Norfolk, Nebraska, set a new career high for strikeouts in her season debut this week. She struck out 11 batters while pitching a complete-game shutout against Mount Mercy. She followed up with another win in the circle, going 4.1 innings with five more strikeouts to secure the win over MidAmerica Nazarene. She is averaging 9.88 k/game with a 0.62 earned run average this season.

Player – Alexis Shepherd, Midland University (Outfield)

Alexis Shepherd of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports softball player-of-the-week.  Shepherd, a freshman from Waverly, Nebraska, made a splash in her first week as a collegian. She went 6-for-11 (.545) with three home runs, a double, and six RBI as Midland won four games to start the year. Her second homer of the year was a game-winning, two-run homer as Midland battled back to beat (RV) Saint Xavier.
