MEN
Nate McDonald, Midland University – 184lb Weight Class
Midland wrestler Nate McDonald is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Wrestler-of-the-Week. McDonald, a junior from North Bend, Nebraska, went 4-0 at the Salute to Service meet over the weekend, winning the 184-pound division. He had wins by tech. fall, pin, and a major decision to reach the finals. In the final bout, he won a 5-2 decision over 21st-ranked Jeremiah Voliva of Avila.
WOMEN
Maci Avila, Midland University – 138lb Weight Class
Midland wrestler Maci Avila is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Wrestler-of-the-Week. Avila, a junior from Henderson, Nevada, opened the season with a runner-up finish at the Waldorf Open. Competing at 138 lbs., she had four wins by fall to advance to the championship bout. In the title bout, she ultimately lost via technical fall to Skye Realin of Iowa (#9 ranked in NCAA at 131 lbs.).
