Cale Bessler, Doane University
Cale Bessler from Doane University is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Bessler, a senior from Crete, Nebraska, posted a pair of NAIA provisional qualifying marks. He posted a pair of personal bests to kick off the outdoor season. In the shot put, Bessler hit a throw of 16.58m (54-04.75) and ranks fifth in the NAIA. Additionally, in the discus he hit a mark of 50.59m (166-00) and ranks eighth in the NAIA.
Track Events – Braden Kalvelage, Northwestern College
Braden Kalvelage of Northwestern College is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Kalvelage, a senior from Hastings, Nebraska, broke the school record in the 200m (21.16), winning the 51-athlete field by over half a second at the Wayne State Classic. In the long jump, Kalvelage also won the event, hitting the "A" standard with a mark of 7.56m, which is first in the GPAC.
