Week 1: GPAC Football Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played the week of August 25-31, 2025. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2025-26 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/ Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense – Brock Saya, Quarterback (Briar Cliff University)
Briar Cliff quarterback Brock Saya is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Saya, a junior Johnstown, Colorado, accounted for three touchdowns in the Chargers 35-23 victory over St. Ambrose. Saya went 21-of-25 passing for 307 yards and tossed two touchdowns. He also recorded a rushing touchdown. Saya connected with seven different receivers in the contest. The Chargers host Morningside on September 6. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
Defense – Brice Chaplin, Linebacker (Hastings College)
Linebacker Brice Chaplin of Hastings College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Chaplin, a sophomore from Broken Bow, Nebraska, made a huge defensive play late in the second quarter, intercepting a pass and taking it back 16 yards for a touchdown shortly after the Bronco offense was stopped on downs near the goal line, giving Hastings a 13-0 lead. He finished the game with nine tackles, including eight solo and one tackle for loss, keying the 20-7 win at Doane. The Broncos host Midland on September 6. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
Special Teams – Steven Christion, Return Specialist (Dakota Wesleyan University)
Steven Christion of Dakota Wesleyan University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Christion, a junior from Lennox, South Dakota, was explosive on the opening kickoff of the game, returning it 95-yards for a touchdown against Dakota State. It was one of two touchdowns the Tigers scored in their 16-14 win over Dakota State. The Tigers travel to Dordt on September 6. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
