Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Baseball Weekly Honors
Player – Grant Sommers, Doane University (Infielder)
Doane University infielder Grant Sommers is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports baseball player-of-the-week. Sommers, a junior from Papillion, Nebraska, was hot at the plate despite the cold temperatures for the Northwestern series. He posted a .611 batting average with eight runs, seven RBI, five extra base hits, and a 1.222 slugging percentage. Sommers currently ranks second in the GPAC in batting average, home runs, and RBI.
Pitcher – Nicolas Yard, Doane University
Nicolas Yard of Doane University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week. Yard, a senior from Erie, Colorado, threw 6.0 shutout innings as he improved to 7-0 on the season. With temperatures in the low 40s, he was efficient in limiting Northwestern to one base runner per inning. Yard ranks 10th in the NAIA in wins and earned run average.
