Week 5: GPAC Baseball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following baseball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played March 3-9, 2025. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2024-2025 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Baseball Weekly Honors

Pitcher – Drew Dykstra, Northwestern College

Drew Dykstra of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week.  Dykstra, a senior from Urbandale, Iowa, picked up two wins on the mound last week in Florida, starting spring break with a no-hitter against Cornerstone (Mich.). In the no-hit performance, Dykstra punched out eight batters and only surrendered two walks. In Saturday's winning performance against Trinity Baptist, he struck out nine batters, only allowing two hits in a complete game.

Player – Sam Kwapnioski, Doane University (Outfield)

Doane University outfielder Sam Kwapnioski is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports baseball player-of-the-week.  Kwapnioski, a junior from Columbus, Nebraska, hit .833 in Doane's sweep of St. Francis in Illinois over the weekend. He recorded three extra base hits on his five hits, posting a 1.833 slugging percentage, and drove in seven in six at-bats.
