BJ Lawrence, a member of the Doane College track & field team, participated this past week at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.  Lawrence (Omaha/Northwest H.S.) has citizenship with the Caribbean country of St. Kitts-Nevis and ran in the 200m dash and on the 4x100m relay.  On Sunday, Lawrence and his teammates brought home a bronze medal in the relay.

Doane College senior Virgil Mitchell participated in the USATF National Club Track & Field Championships held in New York City this weekend, running for Team Nebraska.

Mitchell ran in three events at the meet, the 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles and a leg of the distance medley relay (DMR). He walked away with the 110m hurdles title, a fourth place finish in the 400m hurdles and a third place finish in the DMR.

He'd love a break, he says, but if he's not training, he's watching track on TV. Or looking up results on the Internet.

He's determined to be ready when he lines up with track and field's fastest stars at the world championships in South Korea in August and at the Summer Olympics next July.
