Doane College is proud to announce that football coach Matt Franzen has been selected for the second consecutive year as the nominee from the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) for the NAIA Coach of Character Award.  Each conference is eligible to nominate one coach for this award.  Franzen, in his sixth year as head coach for the Tigers, led Doane to a 7-3 record this past season and a Top 25 national ranking.

Morningside College was honored by Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott this morning for an outstanding football season last fall. The Mustangs finished the regular season undefeated with a 10-0 record, a 9-0 mark in the GPAC to win their 2nd consecutive title. They went on to be the NAIA National Runner-Up and the nation's 2nd ranked team with a 13-1 record.

The Midland University football team was awarded the esteemed 2012 NAIA Buffalo Funds Five Star Champions of Character Team Award at the AFCA Coaches Convention on Monday.  The honor, given each year to only one team in each of the NAIA's championship sports, is awarded to the NAIA squad that best demonstrates integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership in everyday decisions.
