Brandon Thompson from Morningside has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Golfer-of-the-year and headlines the 2012 GPAC Men's Golf All-Conference team. Thompson claimed overall medalist honors for the GPAC Qualifiers with a 72 hole total of 296. Aaron Aberson from Northwestern has been selected as the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Golf Coach-of-the-Year.

Ross Schulenberg from Doane has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Tennis Player-of-the-Year, while Pete Fiumefreddo from Doane is the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Tennis Coach-of-the-Year.

***Lubbock Christian def. Mount Marty 11-1 (Mount Marty Eliminated)***

Earlier on Saturday...For the second time in three days Doane's baseball team has defeated the defending NAIA National Baseball Champion. Saturday's 6-5 win eliminated the Concordia (Calif.) Eagles from the Marion Bracket of the NAIA National Opening Round. The Tigers will now play Point Park on Saturday night in Championship #1. Point Park is undefeated in the tournament, while Doane has one loss. If Doane can win on Saturday night, they will force a second title game on Monday. The Marion Bracket is hosted by Indiana Wesleyan and the Mid-Central Conference.

The 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball All-Conference team has been announced after a vote of league coaches. This years GPAC All-Conference Team consists 17 first-team members and 17 second-team members, and an honorable mention list. Alex Heideman from Nebraska Wesleyan and Anthony Hincy from Doane were named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Co Players-of-the-Year, while Ethan Opsahl from Dakota Wesleyan was selected as the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Pitcher-of-the-Year. Jeremy Jorgensen from Doane was named the 2012 Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Coach-of-the-Year. The sixth annual Hauff Mid-America Sports Gold Glove Team was also named.

[Men's Basketball] Dordt's Keizer is NAIA A.O. Duer National Award Winner

Shawn Keizer is the male recipient of the NAIA's 2012 A.O. Duer Award. Keizer has been a part of the Dordt College basketball program for three seasons and has played in all 96 games for the Defenders and has scored 543 points.

Dani Bellet from Dakota Wesleyan has been selected as the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Golfer-of-the-Year and headlines the 2011-12 GPAC Women's Golf All-Conference Team. Bellet claimed overall medalist honors for the GPAC Qualifiers with a 72 hole total of 318. Bellet is the first four-time GPAC Player-of-the-Year in league history.

This year's GPAC All-Conference Team consists of a first-team, second-team, and an honorable mention list. Andrea Gonzales from Doane College was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Player-of-the-Year while Katie VandeVoort from Northwestern College was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Pitcher-of-the-Year. Chris Nachtigall from Northwestern College was named the 2012 Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Coach-of-the-Year.

The 2011-2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) sports season is complete and with all 19 conference sports in the books the GPAC All-Sports Trophy has been won by Morningside College with 159 points. Doane was second this year with 151 points and Northwestern finished third with 137.

[Golf] Northwestern Claims 2011-12 GPAC Men's Golf Championship

Northwestern College battled the wind and shot an impressive final round of 305 today to come from behind to claim the 2011-12 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Golf Championship. The Red Raiders entered the final 18 holes at Prairie Green in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, twelve strokes back of Nebraska Wesleyan and won the meet and earned a berth in 2012 NAIA National Golf Championship in Salem, Oregon.

[Softball] Morningside Claims 2012 GPAC Softball Championship

Four seed Morningside defeated seventh seeded Midland 8-1 today to claim the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Softball Tournament Championship in Hastings, Nebraska. The eight-team double elimination tournament is was played at the Smith Softball Complex and was hosted by Hastings College.

[Baseball] Mount Marty Wins GPAC Baseball Championship

Seventh seed Mount Marty ran the table at 5-0 over three days and claimed the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball Tournament Championship in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Lancers defeated Northwestern 1-0 at Haymarket Park (Hawks Field) in the lone game on Saturday. Mount Marty is now 26-26 on the season. Northwestern closes the season at 30-23.
