![]() NAIA Tourney MVP Becca Hurley Northwestern (Iowa) won its third State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship, defeating Shawnee State (Ohio) 85-66 at the 19th annual event Tuesday in the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena. The Red Raiders close out their season with a record of 31-5, while Shawnee State's season record closes out at 29-7.
"We are very fortunate at Northwestern," head coach Earl Woudstra said. "We have great academics and a great program to attract quality women and student-athletes. I feel blessed to represent Northwestern and these ladies truly represent the core values of the NAIA's Champions of Character program. When you have great individuals like that on your team, it makes coaching easy." The title is the third for the veteran coach in four national championship game appearances since 2000, winning it all in 2001, 2008, and now in 2010. ![]() Grider Led the NAIA in Scoring This Season The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2010 Division II Women's Basketball All-America teams. Players are selected by the All-America committee. Briar Cliff's (Iowa) Liz Grider was named the 2010 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year after leading the Chargers to their first National Championship appearance since 2002, including a spot in the semifinals. The senior finished the season averaging 29.7 points per game and 23.7 points in four games played at the 19th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship.

![]() DWU's Dorsey Earns First Team Honors The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2009-10 Division II Men's Basketball All-America teams. Players are selected by the All-America committee. Steve Briggs from Oklahoma Wesleyan was named the State Farm/NAIA National Player of the Year after leading his team back to the national semifinals and averaging over 21 points per game. Briggs and Nathan Menefee (Evergreen State) are the lone repeat members of the first team.
