GPAC Track and Field Honors
The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following outdoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for April 21 – April 27, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.

Field Events
Tawny Fye
 
Doane's Tawny Fye is the field athlete-of-the-week. Fye, a senior from Stratton, Colorado, posted a first and third place finish in the discus (1st at Hastings/GPAC Last Chance, 3rd at Nebraska Kearney Invite) and a third and sixth place finish in the hammer (3rd at UNK and 6th at the Hastings/GPAC Last Chance).
 
Katie Moeller, Hastings
  Hastings' Katie Moeller is the field athlete-of-the-week. Moeller, a freshman from Grand Island, Nebraska, won the high jump twice last week in the Nebraska-Kearney Invite and Hastings-GPAC Last Chance Invite. She cleared 5-04.25 in both meets. Moeller has won the high jump in five straight meets this fall.
Track Events
Northwestern Women's Distance Medley Relay
  Northwestern's distance medley relay team is the track athlete-of-the-week. The team of Laura Jacobson, Jessica Regan, Delainye Harderson, and Olivia Johnson placed fourth at the Drake Relays. Their time of 12:06.24 set a new school record and bettered their indoor All-American time by nearly ten seconds. The time came on a cool and windy day in Des Moines, Iowa.

Field Events
Jared Schuurmans, Doane
 
Doane's Jared Schuurmans is the field athlete-of-the-week. Schuurmans, a sophomore from Norfolk, Nebraska, broke the Doane school record in the discus by one full foot a the Hastings/GPAC Last Chance Invite. His throw of 172-10 tops the old mark held by former NAIA Champion Dan Underwood. He also participated in the shot put and hammer throw on the week.

Track Events

Doane 4x100 Relay Team
 
Doane's 4x100 Relay Team are the track athletes-of-the-week. The relays team of Kedrick Kelley (Houston, Texas), D'Artagnan Dai'Re (West Covina, California), Maurice Smith (Dallas, Texas), and Paulvince Obuon (Kisumu, Kenya). Their time of 41.20 in the prelims at the Drake Relays is the fourth best in the NAIA. They ran a time of 41.20 in the finals and placed third. They had the second fastest time in the prelims.
