![]() Dordt's Jen Kempers Jen Kempers (Senior; Sioux Center, Iowa) was named the most valuable performer at the recently completed Sioux City Relays run on April 18 and 19. Kempers broke her schoolrecord in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:42.83 and won the event by over a half-minute. Kempers won the national steeplechase event in 2006 and was the runner-up last year.
Kempers also turned in a first place time of 2:17.72 in the 800 meters and finished second in the high jump where she cleared 5-4. She also ran the lead leg of the 4 x 400 meter relay team that finished fourth in a time of 4:04.43.
"Jen's been working hard and putting in extra miles and that is showing," said Dordt head coach Craig Heynen. "Her time this year in the steeplechase is already faster than her national time from last season and she hasn't really been pushed yet in the steeple."
Kempers will run with Tami Wieringa, Joy Horstman and Sierra Zomer at the Drake Relays this weekend in the 4x800 meter relay. |
