![]() GPAC Track and Field Honors The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women's and men's outdoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for April 7 – April 14, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events Laura Wortmann, Mount Marty Mount Marty's Laura Wortmann is the field athlete-of-the-week. Wortmann, a junior from Crofton, Nebraska, placed first in both the shot put and discus at the Wayne State Invite last weekend. Her mark in the shot put was 47-1.5, while in the discus her throw was 144-11. Both marks are NAIA automatic marks for the National Championships and lead the GPAC. Track Events Scottie Shaw, Hastings Hastings' Scottie Shaw is the track athlete-of-the-week. Shaw, a junior from Roseland, Nebraska, placed first in the 1500 at the Concordia Invite with a time of 4:46.02. The mark provisionally qualifies her for the NAIA National Championships. The mark ranks her second in the GPAC. She was also on the Bronco 4x800 relay team that provisionally qualified for nationals as well. Field Events Adam Burmood, Doane Doane's Adam Burmood is the field athlete-of-the-week. Burmood, a senior from Shelton, Nebraska, placed first in the javelin at the Concordia Invite with a throw of 207-00. The mark automatically qualifies him for the NAIA National Championships and is a personal best. He ranks second in the NAIA and first in the GPAC in the javelin. Track Events
Eric Risinger, Midland Lutheran Midland Lutheran's Eric Risinger is the track athlete-of-the-week. Risinger, a junior from Pierce, Nebraska, won the 110 hurdles at the Concordia Invite with a time of 14.70. He has the fastest time in the GPAC at 14.62 and he has automatically qualified for the NAIA National Championships. He was also on a 4x400 meter relay team that placed third in the meet. |
