The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following outdoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for March 31 – April 4, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.

Field Events
Tawny Fye, Doane
 
Doane's Tawny Fye is the field athlete-of-the-week. Fye, a senior from Stratton, Colorado, posted three first place and one third place finish on the week. In the Midland Lutheran Throws Meet she placed third in the hammer (151-05) and took first in the discus (136-01). Both marks provisionally qualified her for the NAIA National Championships. Later in the week at the Nebraska Wesleyan/Doane Dual she won the hammer (148-07) and discus (140). Her discus mark in the dual was a NAIA automatic qualifying mark.

Track Events
Jen Kempers, Dordt
  Dordt's Jen Kempers is the track athlete-of-the-week. Kempers, a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, won the steeplechase at the Augustana-Vance Butler Invite in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her time of 10:54.20 is the fastest time in the NAIA to date. She won the event by over a minute. Kempers won the NAIA National Championship in event in 2006.

Field Events
Jared Schuurmans, Doane
 
Doane's Jared Schuurmans is the field athlete-of-the-week. Schuurmans, a sophomore from Norfolk, Nebraska, posted four first place and two second place finishes in various throws events last week. In the Midland Lutheran Throws Meet he hit three automatic marks for the NAIA National Championship by winning the discus (160-11) and placing second in the hammer (170-05) and shot put (52-00.50). Later in the week at the Nebraska Wesleyan/Doane Dual he won three events. He won the hammer (153-06.50), discus (158-06), and shot put (52-06). His marks in the discus and shot were NAIA auto marks.
 
Track Events
Andrew Hawley, Dana
 
Dana's Andrew Hawley is the track athlete-of-the-week. Hawley a junior from Lincoln, Nebraska, won the 100 and 200 meters in the Wayne State Wildcat Open. His time was 11.07 in the 100 and 22.96 in the 200. He was also a part of a wining 4x100 meter relay team (43.71).
