The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for March 17 -March 23, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors
Pitcher – Whitney McElrath, Morningside
  Morningside pitcher Whitney McElrath is the Hauff Mid-America Sports Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week. McElrath, a senior from Moville, Iowa, went 3-1 on the week with 28 strikeouts and just eight walks. Her lone loss was to top ranked California Baptist. Her ERA for the week was 2.03.

 

Player- Steph Loeschen, Morningside
  Morningside first baseman Steph Loeschen is the Hauff Mid-America Sports Softball Player-of-the-Week. Loeschen, a senior from Ocheyedan, Iowa, posted a .483 batting average with 13 RBI’s as the Mustangs went 7-2. For the week she was 14-29 at the plate with four doubles and a grand slam home run that forced extra inning (eight innings) in a 10-8 win over Wisconsin La-Crosse. She also scored six runs and one stolen base. Morningside entered the week at 11-2.
