The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following baseball player and pitcher-of-the-week for March 10 -March 16, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Baseball Weekly Honors
Pitcher – Steven Aschinger, Morningside
Morningside pitcher Steven Aschinger is the Hauff Mid-America Sports Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week. Aschinger, a freshman from Lake View, Iowa, posted a shutout win over NCAA Division II St. Cloud State with six innings of work and five strikeouts. Morningside won the game 3-1.

Player- Mike Mendenhall, Doane
Doane outfielder Mike Mendenhall is the Hauff Mid-America Sports Baseball Player-of-the-Week. Mendenhall, a junior from Laramie, Wyoming, hit .550 on the week with eight RBI’s. He posted a slugging percentage of .950 with five multiple hit games. For the week he had two homeruns, a triple and five steals.
