![]() GPAC Indoor Track and Field Honors Named The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women’s and men's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for February 4 – February 10, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events Laura Wortmann, Mount Marty Mount Marty’s Laura Wortmann is the field athlete-of-the-week. Wortmann, a junior from Crofton, Nebraska, placed first at the Wayne State Invite in the shot put with a throw of 45-06.5. The mark is the best in the GPAC and ranks her fourth in the NAIA.
Track Events
Regan Carlstrom, Doane Doane’s Regan Carlstrom is the track athlete-of-the-week. Carlstrom, a junior from St. Edward, Nebraska, posted two first place finishes last weekend in the Buena Vista NAIA Invite in Storm Lake, Iowa. She won the 55 meters with a time of 7.29 and the 200 meters with a time of 25.71. Her 200 meters time set a Doane school record and she has the top GPAC time in both events. Earlier in the season she tied the Doane school record in the 55 meters. Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week Field Events Nick Thixton, Doane Doane’s Nick Thixton is the field athlete-of-the-week. Thixton, a senior from Lexington, Nebraska, placed first at the Buena Vista NAIA Invite in the triple jump. His measurement was 46-10 and that was almost two feet ahead of the runner-up finisher (44-10.75). His mark ranks him first in the GPAC and eighth in the NAIA. Track Events
Andrew Jacob, Midland Lutheran Midland Lutheran’s Andrew Jacob is the track athlete-of-the-week. Jacob, a junior from Fremont, Nebraska, posted a time of 2:29.5 in placing third in the 1000 meters at the Nebraska Adidas Classic at the Bob Devaney Center.
