![]() GPAC Weekly Indoor Track and Field Honors The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women's and men’s indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for January 28 – February 3, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events Katie Moeller, Hastings Hastings’ Katie Moeller is the field athlete-of-the-week. Moeller, a freshman from Grand Island, Nebraska, won the high jump for the third week in a row and cleared 5-7 at the Doane Scott Nisely Memorial Invite. Her mark is the best in the GPAC and second in the NAIA behind a 6-0.75 jump by Ruky Abdulai from Simon Fraser University.
Track Events
Laura Jacobson, Northwestern Northwestern’s Laura Jacobson is the track athlete-of-the-week. Jacobson, a senior from Galva, Iowa, won the 600 meters at the Dordt Invite with a time of 1:37.13. The mark is the top in the GPAC and ranks her 6th in the NAIA. She broke the meet record by 1.21 seconds and won the event by 4.2 seconds. Field Events Scott Van Cura, Hastings Hastings’ Scott Van Cura is the field athlete-of-the-week. Van Cura, a senior from Hastings, Nebraska, won the weight throw at the Doane Scott Nisely Memorial Invite with a throw of 58-05. He also posted a 3rd place mark of 53-04 in the shot put. Van Cura was named the Male Athlete-of-the-Meet. He currently is ranked 2nd in the NAIA and 1st in the GPAC in the weight throw. Track Events
Barnabas Dyedi, Morningside Morningside’s Barnabas Dyedi is the track athlete-of-the-week. Dyedi, a junior from Bellevue, Nebraska, won the 5000 meters in the Dordt Invite with a time of 15:18.31. His time was a new meet record and currently leads the GPAC. Forrest Gregory, Doane
Doane's Forrest Gregory is the track athlete-of-the-week. Gregory, a senior from Bellevue, Nebraska, won the pentathlon in the Kip Janvrin Multi-Events at Doane last Saturday and Sunday. For the day he won six of the seven events and scored 5114 points. He currently ranks number one in the NAIA and broke his own school record in the event.
