Doane's Meagan Bauer Holds Top Pole Vault Mark in the NAIA

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women’s and men's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for January 21 – January 27, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.

Field Events
Meagan Bauer, Doane

Doane’s Meagan Bauer is the field athlete-of-the-week. Bauer, a senior from Gering, Nebraska, placed first in the pole vault at the Charlie Foster Invite with a mark of 12-06.25. The jump set a meet and stadium record and is the top mark in the NAIA this winter.

Track Events
Northwestern Distance Medley Relay
Northwestern’s Distance Medley Relay are the track athletes-of-the-week. The relay broke a five year old school record and set the fastest time in the NAIA with a clocking of 12:15.73 at the Iowa State Open. The relay is made up of Olivia Johnson, Jessica Regan, Laura Jacobson, and Charity Miles. Also on the day Johnson broke her own school record in the mile, Jacobson broke her own school record in the 1,000, and Miles broke her own school record in the 3,000.

Field Events
Frank Thompson, Dakota Wesleyan

Dakota Wesleyan’s Frank Thompson is the field athlete-of-the-week. Thompson, a freshman from Trenton, New Jersey, posted a mark of 6-8 in the high jump at the USD Graphic Edge Invite in the Dakota Dome. The jump tied the Dakota Wesleyan school record and leads the GPAC this season. He also automatically qualifies for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships and currently ranks 5th in the NAIA.

Greg Torres, Doane
Doane’s Greg Torres is the track athlete-of-the-week. Torres, a senior from Omaha, Nebraska, set a stadium and meet record in the 1000 meters at the Charlie Foster Invite with a time of 2:35.29. He also anchored a winning Distance Medley Relay that posted a time 10:52.53.
