The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women’s indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for January 7 – January 13, 2008. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.

Field Events
Abby Schlueter, Doane

Doane’s Abby Schlueter is the field athlete-of-the-week. Schlueter, a junior from Beatrice, Nebraska, placed first in the triple jump and second in the long jump at the Ward Haylett Invite. Her measurement in the triple jump was 37.06.75, while in the long jump she posted a 17-03.50 mark. The mark in the triple jump meets the NAIA automatic standard, while the long jump measurement is a provisional mark. Schlueter was a NAIA All-American for Indoor Track and Field last year.

Track Events
Kym Bennett, Doane
Doane’s Kym Bennett is the track athlete-of-the-week. Bennett, a junior from Bellevue, Nebraska, won two events at the Ward Haylett Invite on Saturday in Crete, Nebraska. In the mile she clocked a time of 5:15.11, while in the 1000 meters she posted a time of 3:07.49. Her time in the mile is an automatic NAIA qualifying time, while she was just three seconds off qualifying in the 1000 meters. Bennett was a NAIA All-American for Indoor Track and Field last year.
