![]() This Shot Broke the NAIA DII Scoring Record! Northwestern senior Debbie Remmerde scored her seventh and eighth points of the game at Briar Cliff with 8:29 left in the first half. The two point bucket now places Remmerde in the top spot on the all-time NAIA Division II scoring charts.
Later in the game at the 3:09 mark of the second half she broke the Iowa Women's Collegiate Record held by Briar Cliff's Cheryl Dreckman. Dreckman scored 3,248 points from 1986-1990. Remmerde broke the record on Dreckman's old home court at the Newman Flanagan Center.
Remmerde is already an Iowa scoring record holder, she holds the Iowa Girls High School 5-Player Scoring Record with 2,756 points.
Remmerde has been a story to watch ever since she transferred from the University of Iowa to Northwestern. During the 2005-2006 season she sunk a national record of 133 straight free throws. At the time she made an appearance on the CBS Morning Show and made 256 straight free throws. During the three-hour broadcast she missed only six of 588 tosses.
Remmerde ended the game with 23 points and now is at 3,252 for her career. Second ranked Northwestern won the contest 80-70.
