USF's Dvoracek Totaled 4658 Yards From
2003 to 2006
From Monica Wepking, Editor of the Wagner Post

Mike Dvoracek of Wagner, South Dakota, gives all of the credit for his success in football to his family, friends and coaches. He actually said, "For making me the man I am today." Mike is the son of Bruce and Sharon Dvoracek of Wagner. Dvoracek has signed a contact to play football for The American Football Club "Black Panthers Thonon" of France. Mike will leave for France on January 1, 2008.

His last game for the season will be the Eurobowl, which will be held July 5-6, 2008. "I'm excited to be able to put the uniform on again. I'm one of two import players on the French team. There are ten teams in the French league. We will also play other European teams," said Dvoracek. Even though Dvoracek admits he knows nothing about France and can't speak French he knows plenty about football. Dvoracek was a standout player for Wagner Community School and then went on to play football at the University of Sioux Falls (USF). Last year Dvoracek ran in a two-yarder that sealed the NAIA National Championship for USF in Savannah, TN. This year Dvoracek, while finishing his major in Criminal Justice, was a student coach at USF. USF went to the NAIA Football Championship Series again this year, but lost in the championship game to Carroll College out of Montana.

How does a Wagner, South Dakota boy end up in France playing football? "Joe Wright, who I played football with at USF played for a team in England last year. He told me how to go about getting on a team. I applied over the Internet and then had conversations with the coach over the phone," said Dvoracek. Mike indicated that his rent, airline tickets, insurance, gym membership, food, car and a stipend will be provided to him as a member of the team. He also said , "This level of football is not as demanding as college football. You have about three practices a week, you work out on your own, and then you have time to travel and see the country." Dvoracek plans to play out his contact in France and then in July see if he can get on the Fire Department in Kansas City. "I will continue to keep in shape and then try to get on the Canadian Football League or the new American Football League in the United States. I want to play football as long as it's financially sound. If none of this works out, being a fireman is what I want to do."
