USF's Brittnay Hofer The University of Sioux Falls, with a two day total of 666, has claimed the 2007 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Golf Championship. Ending a five year title run by Dakota Wesleyan. USF’s Brittnay Hofer was the individual medalist with a 151 (76-75). The Cougars, who led after day one with a 328, came back with a day two total of 338 to win the league title at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dakota Wesleyan was second with 681, while Hastings was third with 693. Sioux Falls, Dakota Wesleyan, Hastings, Northwestern (703), and Dana (708) will all advance to the NAIA Region III Championships on April 28 and 29 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the Elmwood Golf Course. The top five conference teams automatically qualify for the regional meet. The NAIA National Golf Championships are May 20 – 23 in San Diego, California, at the Lake San Marcos Country Club. The runner-up medalist in the meet was Kristi Tighe from Morningside with a two-day total of 159 (78-81). Cassidy Potter from Dakota Wesleyan was third with a 163 (81-82). Joining the five teams at the regional will be Tighe along with Sarah Hannon from Nebraska Wesleyan and Michaela Carew from Briar Cliff. Any individual who placed in the top-10 at the conference meet automatically advanced to the regional meet. Day two action was played under partly cloudy skies and in 65 degree weather. Doane College was the host for the two-day meet in Lincoln.
