The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, September 15, 2007. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
 
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense – Dayton Edwards, Quarterback - Hastings
  Hastings’ quarterback Dayton Edwards is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Edwards, a 5-10 junior from Cottage Grove, Oregon, threw four touchdown passes in the Broncos 37-9 home win over Dana on Saturday. He completed touchdown passes of 54, 63, 16, and eight yards in the contest. For the day he was 14-24 with 322 yards in the air. Hastings improved to 3-0 on the season (for the first time since 1999) and will play at Midland Lutheran next Saturday at 7PM.

Defense- Phil Schroer, Safety – Nebraska Wesleyan
  Nebraska Wesleyan cornerback Phil Schroer is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Schroer, a 6-0 junior from Lawrence, Nebraska, intercepted two passes (one in the end zone) in leading the Prairie Wolves to a 46-7 home win against Doane. The interceptions increased his season total to four and moved him into fifth place on the all-time list at NWU. Schroer also broke up three passes, forced a fumble, had four solo and two assist tackles, and had a blocked punt called back due to a penalty. Nebraska Wesleyan, ranked 19th, is 2-1 heading into their bye week during week number four.

Special Teams- Gavin Rodriquez, Kicker - Hastings
 
Hastings’ kicker Gavin Rodriquez is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Football Player-of-the-Week. Rodriquez, a 5-10 freshman from Tempe, Arizona, made four out four extra points, three of four field goal attempts on Saturday in Hastings 37-9 win over Dana. Rodriquez field goals measured 29, 40, and 44 yards. He also punted five times for an average of 30.4 yards per punt (long of 47), and kicked off eight times for an average of 52.3 yards. Hastings is now 3-0 and will play at Midland Lutheran next Saturday night in a 7PM game.
