The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, September 8, 2007. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
 
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Football Players-of-the-Week

Offense – Craig Hector, Quarterback - Northwestern
  Northwestern quarterback Craig Hector is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Hector, a senior from Le Mars, Iowa, had a record-setting day with 377 yards through the air and five passing touchdowns in the Red Raiders 44-30 win over Dakota Wesleyan. On the day he amassed 400 yards of total offense as he also rushed seven times for 24 yards. In the victory he completed 25-36 pass attempts and tied the Northwestern record for passing touchdowns in a game with five. The Red Raiders (2-0), ranked fifth in the new NAIA poll , will play at top-ranked Sioux Falls (2-0) this Saturday. Kick off at 1PM at the USF Sanford Health Sports Complex.

Defense- Paul Seger, Cornerback – Nebraska Wesleyan
  Nebraska Wesleyan cornerback Paul Seger is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Seger, a junior from Atkinson, Nebraska, tallied an interception return for a touchdown in the Prairie Wolves 23-14 win at then number eleven Morningside. His interception for a touchdown went for 93 yards as time ran out in the first half. It also set a NWU record for longest interception return for a touchdown. Seger also posted three solo and six assist tackles along with one pass breakup. Nebraska Wesleyan (1-1), ranked number 22 in the new NAIA poll, will host arch-rival Doane (0-1) this Saturday at 1PM in Lincoln, Nebraska.
 
Special Teams- Matt Eberspacher, Kicker – Nebraska Wesleyan
 
Nebraska Wesleyan kicker Matt Eberspacher is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Eberspacher, a sophomore from Waverly, Nebraska, made three field goals in leading the Prairie Wolves to a 23-14 road win at then number eleven Morningside. He made two first quarter field goals of 35 and 47 yards, then made a 40 yard field goal in the fourth quarter to put NWU up by two possessions. The 22nd ranked Prairie Wolves (1-1) will host Doane (0-1) this Saturday at 1PM at Abel Stadium.
