Week 7: Basketball Players-of-the-Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following basketball players-of-the-week for contests played December 19-25, 2016. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2016-2017 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Women – Mary Janovich, Concordia University (Guard)

  Concordia guard Mary Joanovich is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women's basketball player-of-the-week.  Janovich, a junior from Gretna, Nebraska, helped Concordia extend its winning streak to 15 with two victories over nationally-ranked opponents at the Hoop N Surf Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. Over the two games in The Aloha State, she averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals while making 12-of-18 (.667) shots from the field. She ranks ninth among all NAIA Division II players in steals per game (3.0).


Men – Tate Martin, Dakota Wesleyan University (Guard)

  Dakota Wesleyan guard Tate Martin is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men's basketball player-of-the-week.  Martin, a senior from Mitchell, South Dakota, led the Tigers to two victories, including a 25-point performance over the NCAA Div. III University of Dubuque in the Las Vegas Hoopla. Martin ranks No. 2 in the NAIA in total assists (131). He has also helped the Tigers to a No. 1 ranking in assist-to-turnover ratio and native sits at No. 2 in assists per game (8.2) in the NAIA.
