Field Events
Scott VanCura, Hastings
Hastings’ Scott VanCura is the field events athlete-of-the-week. VanCura, a junior from Hastings, placed first in the weight throw at the UNK-Charlie Foster Open. His throw of 55-08.5 is the top mark in the NAIA this season. The mark also automatically qualifies him for the NAIA National Meet.
Track Events
Gordie Coffin, Nebraska Wesleyan
Nebraska Wesleyan’s Gordie Coffin is the track athlete-of-the-week. Coffin, a senior from Osceola, Nebraska, posted career bests in the 60 and 200 meter races at the UNL-Adidas Invite in Lincoln. His time in the 60 meters was 6.92 (converted to 6.44 for the 55 meters which is run at the NCAA DIII National Meet). In the 200 he clocked a time of 21.85 which ranks him second all-time at NWU. He finished 7th in the event behind all NCAA DI athletes.
