Women's Golf - Mon, May. 5, 2014

The Dakota Wesleyan women shot a final round of 317 on Monday and claimed the 2013-14 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Golf Championship with a four round total of 1308.  The title is the Tigers 6th GPAC championship in a row. The 317 was the team low score on the day at the fourth and final GPAC women's golf qualifier at Fox Run at Yankton, South Dakota.  Today's final qualifier was hosted by Mount Marty College.

In the final team standings Northwestern finished second with 1367 over 72 holes, while Morningside placed third with 1419 on the year.

Individually Lauren Fitts from Dakota Wesleyan shot a round of 77 today and finished as the GPAC Player-of-the-Year with a four round total of 318.  Chelsea Burback from Dakota Wesleyan was second overall with a 324, while Dawn Chapman from Briar Cliff was third with 326. Joining Fitts today as low finisher was Taylor Malenke from Northwestern also with a 77.

Dakota Wesleyan will represent the GPAC at the 2014 NAIA Women's Golf Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska, at Wilderness Ridge.  Joining the Tigers will be the host Doane College Tigers.  The NAIA Women's Golf Championships are May 20-23.
