Indoor Track Combined - Thu, Feb. 27, 2014

Honors for the 2014 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Track and Field Season have been announced.  The top Performances-of-the-Meet and the Coach-of-the-Year honors were voted on by the league coaches.  GPAC Athlete-of-the-Year honors went to the highest individual point scorers in the meet.  Also, the top eight individuals in each event are considered GPAC All-Conference performers.

Nia Cooperwood from Morningside and Courtney Mills from Hastings have earned the Most Outstanding Performances-of-the-Meet for the Women, while Kale Wolken from Doane earned Most Outstanding Performance-of-the-Meet for the Men. 

Cooperwood set a meet and fieldhouse record in the long jump at 19-06 for the Mustangs, while Mills won the triple jump with a leap of 40-04 for the Broncos.  Wolken won the honor for his winning Heptathlon performance where he set Heptathlon event records in the 60 meters (7.03), long jump (23-00.75), and shot put (45-00.50) for the Tigers. 

Cooperwood and Wolken were named the Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Indoor Track and Field Outstanding Athletes-of-the-Year. Cooperwood scored 38 points on the day for Morningside, while Wolken scored 26.5 points over two days for Doane.

Ed Fye from Doane has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Coach-of-the-Year, while Kregg Einspahr from Concordia earned the Men's Indoor Track and Field Coach-of-the-Year honors.

Men's 400 meters – John Cartier, Concordia – 49.14

Men's 800 meters – Taylor Bodin, Northwestern – 1:54.26

Men's 4x800 – Northwestern College – 7:49.65

Women's Long Jump - Neeia Cooperwood, Morningside - 19-06

Women's 60 meters – Neeia Cooperwood, Morningside – 7.70 (tied)

Women's 200 meters – Neeia Cooperwood, Morningside – 24.86

Women's 400 meters – Sandrae Farquharson, Doane – 56.24

Women's 800 meters – Katie Bonnema, Dordt – 2:17.36

Women's 3000 meters – Sarah Kortze, Concordia – 10:22.49

Women's 5000 meters – Gabi Jenkins, Nebraska Wesleyan – 17:32.62

Women's 4x800 – Dordt College – 9:33.05

The GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships were held on Friday and Saturday, February 21-22 at Fuhrer Fieldhouse/Fred Beile Arena on the Doane College campus.  The top eight in each event and top three relays are considered GPAC All-Conference for Indoor Track and Field.
