Cross Country Combined - Thu, Nov. 14, 2013

2013 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Cross Country individual and coaching honors have been announced for 2013. 

Katie Smelker from Mount Marty has been named the 2013 Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runner-of-the-Year, and headlines the GPAC Women's Cross Country All-Conference Team.  Smelker was the individual champion at the GPAC Championships on Saturday, November 9, at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, with a 5K time of 18:12.16.  Dordt College was the women's team conference champion with 35 points and claimed the NAIA automatic bid to the Women's NAIA National Championships.  Greg Van Dyke head coach at Dordt College was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year.

On the men's side Garret Ehlers from Morningside is the 2013 Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runner-of-the-Year, and headlines this year's GPAC Men's Cross Country All-Conference Team.  Ehlers placed first in Saturday's men's 8K race with a time of 26:01.90.  Morningside was the men's team conference champion with 41 points. The Mustangs earned the NAIA automatic bid to the Men's NAIA National Championships. Dave Nash head coach Morningside College has been honored as the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year.

The NAIA National Cross Country Championships are slated for Saturday, November 23, in Lawrence, Kansas, at Rim Rock Farm hosted by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC)

The Top 15 runners in each race on Saturday are GPAC All-Conference for 2013 (list below).
