GPAC Weekly Golf Honors Announced

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following golfers-of-the-week for April 22 – April 29, 2013.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2012-2013 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.


Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Golfers-of-the-Week
Men – Shawn Rodehorst, Concordia

Concordia's Shawn Rodehorst is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Co-Golfer-of-the-Week. Rodehorst, a sophomore from Kearney, Nebraska, tied for first at GPAC Qualifier No. 4 with a one-under-par round of 70 last Thursday in Sioux Center at the The Ridge. He completed a great run this spring as he averaged 71.8 in five rounds. His 75.2 average for the 2012-13 season broke a school single-season record at Concordia. Overall, Rodehorst finished eighth in the GPAC this season over 72 holes and earned All-Conference honors.

Men- Cale Benson, Doane
Doane's Cale Benson is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Co-Golfer-of-the-Week. Benson, a freshman from Grand Island, Nebraska, tied for low round on the day at the GPAC Qualifer #4 with a one under round of 70 at The Ridge in Sioux Center.  He recorded one eagle and 14 pars on the day. On the par five holes, he played them at two under par while playing the Par 3 holes at even par for the day. 

Women – Chelsea Burback, Dakota Wesleyan
Dakota Wesleyan's Chelsea Burback is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Golfer-of-the-Week. Burback, a junior from Northglenn, Colorado, tied for third and then tied for first at the third and fourth GPAC qualifiers last week Friday at Twin Rivers in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. She shot an 85 in the third qualifier and tied with teammate Lauren Fitts with an 80 in the fourth round. Her two top-three finishes helped the Tigers win both events and win their fifth straight GPAC title by 71 strokes. Chelsea finished the year second in the individual GPAC standings.
