Outdoor Track Combined - Wed, Apr. 24, 2013

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following outdoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for April 15 – April 21, 2013.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2012-2013 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events – Bailey Soucie, Nebraska Wesleyan

Nebraska Wesleyan's Bailey Soucie is the field athlete-of-the-week. Soucie, a senior from Cambridge, Nebraska, broke the Nebraska Wesleyan school record by over four feet with her winning toss of 156-07 in the discus at the Prairie Wolf Invite on Saturday. Her throw is now the best throw in NCAA III and the GPAC. She broke her own school record (which she first set in 2012 and then broke last week). Soucie also placed second in the javelin at the Prairie Wolf Invite leading the NWU women to a big victory in the team race.

Track Events – Katie Bonnema, Dordt
Dordt's Katie Bonnema is the track athlete-of-the-week. Bonnema, a Junior from Ireton, Iowa, reached NAIA "A" standard in the 400 meters and is fifth on the national list with her :56.05 clocking at the Doane Relays.  Her mark set a new meet record. She also ran a :56 second split while anchoring the 4 x 400 team and helped them to a second place time of 3:58.24.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events – Clay Pagels, Briar Cliff

Briar Cliff's Clay Pagels is the field athlete-of-the-week. Pagels, a senior from West Point, Nebraska, won the men's high jump at the 2013 Doane Relays on his final attempt at 6-10.25. His jump is a new BCU school record and is the top jump in the GPAC.  He also ranks 3rd in the NAIA on this weeks performance list.

Track Events – Benjamin Hinckfoot, Concordia
Concordia's Benjamin Hinckfoot is the track athlete-of-the-week. Hinckfoot, a junior from Gillette, Wyoming, broke the school record in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 53.85. That mark is also a NAIA "B" national qualifying mark and ranks sixth on the NAIA leaderboard this season. Hinckfoot also ran the third leg of Concordia's first-place 4x400 meter relay team.

The 2013 GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships are Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, at
