Men's Indoor T&F - Thu, Feb. 7, 2013
Augustus Cowan of Briar Cliff (Iowa) has been named NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week the national office announced Wednesday.
Cowan, a sophomore and Hartwell, Ga., native, took first place in the triple jump at the Dennis Young Classic hosted by NCAA Division III Buena Vista (Iowa) on Feb. 2. Cowan jumped 15.54 meters (51-0), breaking Briar Cliff's school record and is the farthest mark by a Great Plains Athletic Conference triple jumper this season. Cowan out-jumped his nearest competitor by five feet. Cowan also competed in the long jump, where he finished third with a personal best leap of 6.89 meters (22-7 ¼).
