GPAC Weekly Wrestling Honor Announced

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following wrestler-of-the-week for January 28 – February 3, 2013. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2012-13 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Wrestler-of-the-Week
Kolton Kersten, Midland University – 197-Pound Weight Class

Midland's wrestler Kolton Kersten is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Wrestler-of-the-Week. Kersten, a junior from Logan, Iowa, advanced his overall record to 29-5 on the season picking up three wins via pin this past week. Kersten's fastest pin came against Concordia's Cameron Bruce in 53 seconds. The Warriors ended the week 3-0 in duals versus conference opponents. Midland defeated Concordia 43-6, Dakota Wesleyan 47-3, and Hastings College 45-4 to push their overall dual record to 7-3 and 4-1 in conference.

John Sievert, Morningside College – 197-Pound Weight Class
Morningside's wrestler John Sievert is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Wrestler-of-the-Week. Sievert, a senior from Akron, Iowa, was the 197 lb. champion at the Briar Cliff Open over the weekend in Sioux City, Iowa, going 3-0.  He also posted dual wins over Northwestern, Buena Vista, and Concordia last week.  Morningside is 10-4 overall and 4-0 in GPAC duels this season.
