Cross Country Combined - Tue, Nov. 6, 2012

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Cross-Country season wrapped up on Saturday, November 3, with the GPAC Championships hosted by Briar Cliff University. The GPAC Championship was run at the Adams Nature Preserve in McCook Lake, South Dakota.

Dordt College took home the women's team title with a total of 25 team points. Dordt was led by a tight pack of runners finishing in the top ten. The Lady Defenders scoring runners finished 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th with an unbelievable spread of ten seconds between their runners. The Dordt women earned an automatic bid to the NAIA national meet on November 17th in Vancouver, Washington. The individual champion, Sarah Krotze, led all GPAC runners with a stellar time of 17:11.26 and helped the Concordia Bulldogs to a tie for runner-up with Nebraska Wesleyan with 91 points a piece. 

On the men's side, the Concordia University took home the team championship by a small margin over Morningside College. The individual champion was Colin Morrissey who led the Bulldogs to the team title with a time of 25:08.65. Concordia was led by a front pack of runners finishing 1st, 3rd and 6th making the difference in the race for team title. Concordia scored a total of 48 points compared to Morningside who scored 55 team points in the second place spot. The Concordia Bulldogs will now compete at the NAIA national meet on November 17th as the GPAC automatic representative.

Other teams and individuals now await possible at-large berths after the final rankings come out on Sunday November 4th.  Final announcements will be made on Monday November 5th for the at-large bids from the NAIA National Office.
