The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following volleyball players-of-the-week for October 8 - October 14, 2012.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2012-2013 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week

Player – Kendra Schwein, Hastings College (Outside Hitter)           
Hastings College outside hitter Kendra Schwein is this week GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Player-of-the-Week. Schwein, a senior, from Highlands, Colorado, helped lead the Broncos to a 3-0 record on the week giving the 6th ranked Hastimgs a 20-3 record. Schwein was a standout in the conference showdown between Hastings and 16th ranked Doane in Crete last Tuesday night. Schwein had 26 of her 53 kills on the week in that one match, also contributing on the defensive end with 12 of her 26 digs on the week. This week the Schwein and the Hastings Broncos look to continue their hot streak against Dordt College in their lone match for the week at home (game time has been moved back to 4:30pm because of the Hastings/Morningside football game at 1pm).      

Setter- Haley Beardsley, Hastings College
Hastings College setter Haley Beardsley is this week GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Beardsley, a senior, from Sterling, Colorado helped lead the 6th ranked Broncos to a 3-0 record on the week and to an overall record of 20-3. Beardsley guided the Bronco offense in a conference showdown against Doane tallying up 50 assists. She had a total of 140 assists in the three matches giving her a 12.7 assist per game average.  Beardsley also contributed on the defensive end totaling up 29 digs on the week with 13 of those coming in the Doane match. This week Hastings will take on Dordt College in their lone match for the week.   

Defensive- Carissa Kinne, Hastings College – Libero
Hastings College libero Carissa Kinne is this week GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Kinne, a senior, from Grand Island, Nebraska, helped lead the 6th ranked Broncos to a 3-0 record on the week with victories over 16th ranked Doane, Mount Marty, and Dakota Wesleyan. Kinne was a defensive workhorse totaling up 39 digs in the Broncos three matches. She led the Broncos with 18 digs in the conference match up against Doane.  Kinne averaged 3.5 digs per game on the week. The Broncos are now 20-3 and will take on Dordt this week.
