The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following golfers-of-the-week for October 1 – October 7, 2012.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2012-2013 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Golfers-of-the-Week

Women- Lauren Fitts, Dakota Wesleyan University           
Dakota Wesleyan University's Lauren Fitts is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Golfer-of-the-Week. Fitts, a freshman, from Brookings, South Dakota, shot a 79, shooting a 43 on the front nine and carding a 36 on the back nine in the GPAC Qualifier No. 2 at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln, Nebraska. She won the second GPAC qualifier by a single stroke. Fitts holds a six-stroke lead in the conference individual race heading into the two spring qualifiers. Fitts helped lead the Tigers to a 15-stroke team win at the GPAC event in Lincoln.


Men – Brandon Thompson, Morningside College
Morningside College's Brandon Thompson is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Golfer-of-the-Week. Thompson, a sophomore, from Totland, Isle of Wright, England, shot a 139 in the two-day Grand View Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa. Thompson proved his consistency shooting a 69 for the first round and a 70 for the second round. Thompson placed 3rd overall individually in a tournament that included many of the top golf programs in the NAIA. He helped guide Morningside to a 6th place team finish.
