The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following men's soccer players-of-the-week for October 1 – October 7, 2012. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2012-2013 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Soccer Players-of-the-Week
Men's Offense – Nathan Douglas, Concordia University, Forward
Nathan Douglas, a forward, from Concordia University is this week GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Douglas, a junior, from Winnipeg, Canada, helped guide the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record for the week. Douglas scored three goals in two games against Central Christian (Kan.) and Mount Marty. The junior has scored five goals in the last three games bringing his average to nearly a goal a game on the season. Douglas and the Bulldogs are now 9-3 and will take on Midland and Morningside this week in conference action.
Men's Defense- Alex Guyer, Hastings College, Keeper
Keeper Alex Guyer from Hastings College is this week GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Guyer, a freshman, from Lincoln, Nebraska, helped lead the 24th ranked Broncos to a 2-0 record for the week in two road conference games. Guyer posted two shutouts on the week in two key road wins against Midland and Morningside. He posted six saves in the two games for Hastings. The 24th ranked Broncos are now 8-4 on the season and 5-0 in the conference. The Broncos will take on Doane and Briar Cliff this week.
