Dakota Wesleyan shot a team round of 320 today and extended their lead in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Golf Championships for 2011-12.  The Tigers now have a total of 989 through 54 holes as GPAC Qualifier #3 was played Tuesday in Lincoln , Nebraska, at Holmes Park.  The third round was hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University.

 

Morningside is in second with a three round total of 1035 after a round of 342 today.  Northwestern was second on the day at 334 and sits in third overall with 1036.

Dakota Wesleyan's Dani Bellet shot a round of 73 and has a 54 hole total of 230 (+13).  Bellet shot a 38-35 round at Holmes Park.  Sophie Peters from Morningside shot a 77 (40,37) and placed second on the day.  Three 80's were carded in Lincoln.  Northwestern's Taylor Kline shot a 37-43 (80), while her teammate Emma Wynia shot a 42-38 (80).  Dakota Wesleyan's Jenna Winckler went 41-39 for her round of 80 and is in second place overall eleven back of Bellet at 244 (+27).  Northwestern's Taylor Kline is in third overall at 247 (+30).

The fourth and final women's qualifier is April 27 at Green Valley in Sioux City, Iowa.

GPAC Men's Golf Qualifier #3 is set for April 23 in Fremont, Nebraska, with qualifier four on May 7 in Mitchell, South Dakota.  Nebraska Wesleyan holds the men's team lead 609-614 over Doane on the men's side after 36 holes.  Drew Taylor from NWU is the individual leader at 147 (72,75).

The team champion for the women and men will advance to the NAIA National Golf Championships to represent the GPAC.  The medalist will also advance, unless he/she is on the winning team.  Nebraska Wesleyan's men are NCAA Divsion III for golf, while the Prairie Wolf women compete in the NAIA.

The NAIA National Women's Golf Championships will be May 15-18 in Greeneville, Tennessee at the Link Hills Country Club.  The NAIA Women's Golf National Championships are hosted by Tennessee Wesleyan College.  The NAIA National Men's Golf Championships are May 22-25 in Salem, Oregon, at the Creekside Country Club.  The NAIA Men's National Championships are hosted by the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
