Dordt College junior Trevor Wolterstorff was named the 2011-2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference Men's Nominee for the NAIA Emil S. Liston Award.

Wolterstorff, a Sioux Center, Iowa native who graduated Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa, has earned first-team all-Great Plains Athletic Conference honors the last two seasons and was a second-team NAIA All-American as a junior and was a third-team pick as a sophomore. 

Wolterstorff has averaged nearly 16 points per game in his three seasons at Dordt and has 1,459 career points and 519 rebounds.  He's a psychology major and maintains a 3.79 grade point average.  Wolterstorff was named an NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete in basketball and will run outdoor track and field for the Defenders this spring.

The Emil S. Liston award is given to one men's basketball player per conference who is an academic junior and is based on scholarship, character and playing ability. Since 1950, the award has honored the memory of the NAIA's first executive director Emil S. Liston. Liston was the founder of the National Association of Intercollegiate Basketball (NAIB).The honor is voted on by each member school's faculty athletic representatives.

The 2011-2012 Dordt College Defender men's basketball team won the GPAC regular season title and advanced to the NAIA Men's Division II National Tournament quarterfinal round before ending its season with a 30-5 record.  The Defenders are coached by Ross Douma.
