Honors for the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Track and Field Season have been announced.

The top Performances-of-the-Meet and the Coach-of-the-Year honors were voted on by the league coaches.  GPAC Athlete-of-the-Year honors went to the highest individual point scorers in the meet.  Also, the top eight individuals in each event are considered GPAC All-Conference performers.

Dordt's Briana (Wubben) Vander Woude has earned the Most Outstanding Performance-of-the-Meet for the Women, while Morningside's Monte Larsen earned Most Outstanding Performance-of-the-Meet for the Men.  Vander Woude won the pentathlon on Friday (3326 points) for ten points on Friday and followed that with wins in the 60 meter hurdles (:08.96) and the long jump (18-01) on Saturday. She also scored in high jump, 60 meter dash, and 200 meters.  For the day she totaled 44 points for the Defender women who finished second in meet behind Doane.  Larsen anchored the GPAC record setting 4x400 relay for Morningside.  Larsen had a 47.9 split as team posted a time of 3:16.14.  Earlier he was the victorious anchor in the 4x800 and a won in the 600 (1:19.39) and 1000 (2:31.88).

Four records were broken in the GPAC Championships on Saturday.  The men's weight throw (Gabe Wickam, Hastings), men's shot put (Cody Weber, Hastings), and the men's 4x400 relay (Morningside) and the men's heptathlon (Rob Keeney, Doane).

Craig Heynen from Dordt has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Coach-of-the-Year, while Ed Fye from Doane and Dave Nash from Morningside earned the Men's Indoor Track and Field Co-Coach-of-the-Year honors. 

Dordt's Vander Woude was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Indoor Track and Field Women's Athlete-of-the-Year.  She scored 44 points in the GPAC Championships for the Defenders.  Doane's Edwin Ronoh was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Indoor Track and Field Men's Athlete-of-the-Year.  He scored 26 points in the GPAC Championships for the Tigers.

The GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships were held on Saturday, February 18, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Friday's combined events were in Seward, Nebraska, at Concordia University.
