Kody Kersten of Midland has been tabbed the NAIA National Wrestler of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Kersten was selected based on his performances from Jan. 9 – 15. This award is the second-straight for the native of Logan, Iowa.

Wrestling at 184 pounds, Kersten went 5-0 in two events last week for the 11th-ranked Warriors. In Midland's dual victory over Hastings (Neb.) on Jan. 13, Kersten won by pin. Ranked as the NAIA's No. 7 wrestler, Kersten pinned three opponents en route to four victories at the Midland Open on Jan. 14. Kersten's last match of the week was a 34-second pin over Cory Brester of NCAA Division I  University of Nebraska.

Of the four pins, three occurred less than one minute into the match. Kersten improved to 16-6 on the season and 10-0 against NAIA competition.
