Hastings College announces that Matt Buttermore has been appointed Head Coach for the HC Bronco Volleyball team.

"We are very excited about Matt joining the program," Ian Roberts, Hastings College Athletic Director, said.  "He's from Nebraska, and he knows the GPAC and the NAIA.  I hope Matt and his wife Laura come to enjoying being part of the Hastings College community as much as my wife Cheri and I have."

Recognized in 2011 as a 30 Under 30 Award Winner by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, Buttermore spent three seasons as Assistant Coach at Bellevue (Neb.) University preceded by three seasons at Concordia University in Seward, Neb.  Additionally, he has coached numerous volleyball club teams and served as a clinician at summer camps in Nebraska and Iowa.

Buttermore honed his expertise in volleyball while playing NCAA Division I men's volleyball at the University of Findlay.  As a middle blocker, he lettered for four years and earned academic all-conference honors.  He still holds the University of Findlay's record for blocks in a single season and total blocks in as season.

In addition to his undergraduate degree in English from University of Findlay, he completed a Master of Arts in Leadership at Bellevue University where he developed a leadership program for collegiate athletes.

Buttermore's wife, the former Laura Pilakowski, played on the University of Nebraska's 2000 undefeated national championship team where she twice earned All-American honors.
