The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, September 4, 2010. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2010-2011 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense - Chris Stutzreim, Quarterback - Morningside
  Morningside quarterback Chris Stutzreim is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Stutzreim, a junior from Lawton, Oklahoma, completed 17-27 passes (63%) for 234 yards on Saturday night at fifth ranked Morningside defeated Doane 40-7. He passed for three touchdowns and ran for another in the home win for the Mustangs. Morningside led 9-0 at the half and scored 31 second half points with 28 points coming in the third quarter. Morningside (1-0) will play at Nebraska Wesleyan (0-1) next Saturday in week two GPAC football action. Kickoff is at 1PM at Abel Stadium.

Defense - Jake Mueller, Defensive Lineman - Hastings
  Hastings defensive lineman Jake Mueller is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Mueller, a senior from Omaha, Nebraska, anchored the Broncos defense in a 33-0 shut out win at Briar Cliff. For the game he had five solo tackles and two assist tackles for the 13th ranked Broncos. He also posted 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for 19 yards of loss. Hastings (1-0) will host Northwestern (0-1) in a Top-25 matchup this Saturday at 1PM at Lloyd Wilson Field. Hastings and Northwestern have not played in two years (last game in 2007).

Special Teams - Chevon Walker, Return Specialist/Running Back - Sioux Falls
  Sioux Falls return specialist/running back Chevon Walker is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Walker, a senior from Fort Meyers, Florida, blocked a Northwestern punt in early the fourth quarter that gave the Cougars the short field at the eight yard line. Top ranked Sioux Falls, down 21-10 with ten minutes left in the third quarter, scored 21 straight points at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarter to sway the game in their favor. Walker, a transfer from Eastern Illinois, also rushed 15 times for 64 yards and two touchdowns for the Cougars in his debut. Sioux Falls (1-0) will travel to Midland Lutheran (1-0, 0-0) next Saturday for a 1PM kick at Memorial Field. USF and MLC have not played in two years (last game in 2007).
